- On the PC version, you can get to the cave near the beginning of the level without using a plum. Drop to the ledge just below you at the beginning of the level, then turn around and face the portal. Jump and grab the edge near the wall on your right. If you did it correctly, you will be out of bounds. Drop down from the edge, then helicopter to the cave. Video (at 1:00)
- If you get hit by a shot from the first pirate, you can boost up to the platform with the golden fist. You can then jump and hover to the Lum, skipping the purple Lum. Video (#4)
- You can get to the room with the squeaky pirate without using a plum. From the platform with the pirate, jump toward the ledge leading to the room, get hit by the pirate's shot, and use the fast helicopter trick to grab the edge. Video (#2)
- After getting the Lums in the room with the squeaky pirate, you can fall into the lava to warp back to the green Lum near the shadow fuzzballs. Video (#9)
- You can also throw a plum from the room with the squeaky pirate back to the previous room, then use the plum to reach the cave near the beginning of the level. However, this plum moves so slowly that it's faster to use the death warp above, then ride the usual plum. Video (#2)
- After entering the cave near the beginning of the level, stay on the plum and hug the right wall, avoiding the green Lum. Ride the plum until you're about to fall into the lava, then jump and grab the edge in front of you. After you get the yellow Lums, fall into the lava to warp back to the green Lum near the shadow fuzzballs. Video (at 1:00)
- Alternatively, dismount the plum. Shoot the hanging plum a few times to make it move toward you. Grab it, then continue with the rest of the area. After you get the yellow Lums, fall into the lava to warp back to the green Lum near the shadow fuzzballs. Video (#10)
- Another alternative is to jump past the first spike from ground level and grab the edge. This jump is difficult, though. Video (#1)
- In the cave near the beginning of the level, after using the first spike, you can throw a plum straight to the third spike. Video (#1)
- If you throw the plum to the second spike and then to the third, you can jump on the plum while it's still on the third spike, then jump from there to the room with the cage. Video (#2)
- In the first room of the optional temple area, you can jump up to the cage from the platform below it. Video (#2)
- In the optional temple area, you can skip jumping on the stalactite just before the second green lum. Jump from the ledge at the entrance of the room, helicopter, and grab the edge next to the green lum. Video (#2)
- In the optional temple area, after the third green lum, there is a stalactite that you would normally jump on before jumping to the moving platform. You can skip the stalactite and simply jump and helicopter straight to the moving platform. Video (#19)
- Partway through the first moving platform ride in the optional temple area, you can jump off the platform and helicopter to the green lum. The platform will move forward and you will respawn on top of it, saving some time. Video (#3)
- In the optional temple area, there's a room where you normally jump up some ledges, go through a tunnel, and shoot a purple Lum. After jumping up the ledges, you can simply jump toward the purple Lum, helicopter, and shoot the purple Lum. This lets you skip the tunnel. Video (#2)
- In the walking shell section, you can skip going around the loop by jumping from one end to the other. Video (#6)
- After finishing the optional temple area, grab a plum and ride up the incline that's on the right as you face the temple's entrance. At the top, ride up the seam on your right. Continue going up the grassy area above you, moving to the right as you do. You'll be able to jump through the wall and helicopter to a nearby cage. Video
- After getting the last cage before the miniboss, you can jump over the lava to a nearby platform. Video (at about 1:09:41)
- You can skip the miniboss battle by using a wall jump to reach the ledge leading to the next area. Video
- Turning on high resolution seems to make this trick easier.
- In the miniboss fight, turning away from the miniboss will make him approach you.
- If you shoot while landing on the plum after the miniboss fight, you can move while the "Yeah" text plays. Video (#4)
- In the plum-riding section after the miniboss fight, there is a line of red lums in the air. You can ride the plum over the rock wall on the right before reaching the red lums in order to reduce the required amount of helicoptering. Video (at about 1:11:15)
- In the second plum-riding section after the miniboss fight, you can bounce over the yellow lava next to the entrance to the web trampoline room. Video (#5)
- In the web trampoline room, if you jump from underneath the second web, you can go through it, skipping the first web. Video (#2)
- In the web trampoline room, you can jump and helicopter from the last vertical web to the exit, skipping the horizontal web. Video #6)
- When you destroy the cage above the entrance to the orange orb room (at the end of the side area with webs), a "Yeah" text normally plays. If you jump, destroy the cage in midair, and helicopter down to the next platform, you'll skip the text. Video (#1)
- You can skip the orange orb and the rooms leading to the blue orb. As you enter Umber's room, let the shadow fuzzballs follow you. Go to the alcove with the blue pedestal and follow the left wall. Jump against the corner between the wall and the pedestal. You can get a wall jump off of this corner. With any luck, a fuzzball will hit you and boost you high enough to grab the edge. From there, make your way to the platform under the hole in the ceiling. Standing on this platform will make it so that when you die, you will respawn there. Throw the blue orb onto the pedestal, then fall in the lava. Jump on Umber and finish the level. Video
- After putting the orbs in place, you can jump from the purple Lum directly to Umber's shoulder (or grab his head). Video (#2)
- You can also drop into the lava to death warp to the top of the room. This method is easier than the one above, but slower. Video (#2)
- If you throw the blue orb toward the pedestal and quickly run into the lava, you can do a death warp during the cutscene. Video (#2)
