For information about tricks this page might refer to, see the main Donkey Kong 64 page.
- You can skip playing Guitar Gazump in the first open area as follows. Behind the temple where Tiny is held captive, there are two walls that meet at about a 100-degree angle. You can get to this corner by walking straight while the temple is on your right. By backflipping through the corner, you can bypass the wall that normally requires you to play Guitar Gazump. Video, Extended description
- It's also possible (and perhaps easier) to get through the other corner behind the temple. Video (#1)
- Anyone can enter the llama temple before DK does the Barrel Blast course. Use the C-up glitch on the raised platform to the right of the stairs (i.e. on your right as you aproach the temple). Then just walk forward and jump into the loading zone. Even with the door closed, you can walk out of the temple just fine. Video (#1)
- The above glitch is fairly difficult, but Diddy and Tiny can perform an easier version. Use the C-up glitch on the walkway to the left of the stairs (walking away from the stairs). Walk under and slightly to the side of the loading zone. Backflip and move toward the loading zone at the peak of your jump. If done correctly, you will get an extra boost to your backflip and can make it inside. Video
- After getting out of bounds as described above, you can walk to the end of the Strong Kong cave. The other side of the wall blocking the entrance is not solid, so you can walk out.
- Another way to enter the llama temple early with DK is as follows. Moonkick off of one of the raised platforms next to the stairs and land on the small platform under the roof. Do a kick toward the slope and you can pass through it and fall into the loading zone. Video
- You can enter the Strong Kong cave with the Rocketbarrel as follows. Fly toward the wall just above the door and hover there while holding forward on the control stick. Drop down slightly and move forward to clip into the wall, then keep moving forward to get into the tunnel. Video (#6)
- DK and Diddy can use the C-up glitch to enter their respective rooms in the five-door temple before you feed the totem pole. On the left side of the temple, there is a ramp leading to the second floor. The C-up glitch can be used on the right side of the ramp. Afterwards, simply walk into one of the rooms. Video #9)
- You can also get into DK's and Diddy's rooms as follows. Stand on the path between the temple and the main area, facing the temple. Jump into the sand to the left, then roll (or Chimpy Charge with Diddy) into the slippery slope in front of you. You should pass through it into safe ground. From there, you can backflip into either room. Video (DK), Video (Diddy)
- Lanky, Tiny, and Chunky can also get into their rooms of the five-door temple before you feed the totem pole. With Hunky Chunky, pick up the large rock in the tunnel between the two open areas. Go toward the area with the five-door temple and set the rock down just before the game forces you to revert to normal Chunky. Walk forward so that Chunky starts shrinking, then pick up the rock just before the red symbol disappears. If you timed it correctly, you'll be carrying the large rock with normal Chunky. Take it to the five-door temple, walk up the stairs on the side, and set the rock down. Now, with either Lanky, Tiny, or Chunky, jump on top of the rock and jump on top of the roof from there. Use the C-up glitch to get inside the wall, then walk to your room of choice. Video
- In Tiny's temple, it is not necessary to melt the ice with Diddy; you can use the C-up glitch either on the stairs near the Mini Monkey barrel or the platform at the entrance to get out of bounds and reach any of the temple's rooms. Video (#2)
- If you do melt the ice, you can use STVW to get to Tiny's room.
- Another way to get out of bounds in Tiny's temple is as follows. With Tiny, get on top of Lanky's switch and face the room's entrance. Do a kickjump (Z+B) off the ledge, then Pony Tail Twirl through the wall next to the torch. Video
- Diddy can spell KONG without raising the platforms by jumping on top of the letters and Chimpy Charging off of them. In order to activate the K, you must first activate one of the other letters (for example, a possible order is O-K-O-N-G). Video (#3)
- Hunky Chunky can glitch through the cage holding his bonus barrel by jumping into the side of it and rolling after the peak of his jump. Video (#1)
- Hunky Chunky can get out of bounds by jumping on one of the torches near the Hunky Chunky barrel and then jumping into the wall. Video (starts at 0:58; crappy mixed-in music warning)
- DK, Diddy, and possibly other kongs can get out of bounds by using an aerial attack on one of the stone faces near Cranky. Video (#3)
- You can use the C-up glitch on the large steps in the llama temple to get to Lanky's room with the stone faces or the room with Lanky's Kasplat. Video (#10)
- You can use the C-up glitch on the stairs in the llama temple to get to the room with Lanky's cage without playing the bongos. Video (#1)
- You can also use STVW on the gate or the wall near the gate (you can swim in the red water). Video
- The lava in the room with Lanky's Kasplat doesn't kill you instantly, so you can get to Tiny's Golden Banana without raising the platforms.
