Ura Invasion Skip

After completing Burstone Quarry, you will be taken back to a ruined version of the Bastion, under siege by the Ura. The "intended" way to deal with this is to fight the Uras, but it is possible to skip this entire (very long!) section almost entirely with this sequence of steps:

  1. Die to the Ura.
  2. If you don't have Cham-Pain, use your chance to Carry On and die to the Ura again.
  3. Select Restart Level on the death screen.
  4. After the level restarts, press Escape and select Exit to Main Menu.
  5. In the Main Menu, select Story and then Continue.

After continuing you will finally land at the usual, fully-functional Bastion, where you will be able to store the Shard(s) from the Burstone Quarry.

NG+ - Executing this skip triggers the History Books appearing in the Bastion.

How To Die

There are two Ura at the beginning of the Invasion waiting for you when you land. When you get up, immediately roll directly into the first Ura, who will hit you. The angle here is somewhat precise; you should aim for the left side of the Ura, but if you roll too far left, the Ura will jump far down-left of you instead of hitting you. Then roll directly to the second Ura to the north of the first. The first Ura will chase you, and both will be grouped right next to you. Wait there until they kill you.

  • NG+ - Thanks to Cham-Pain, you are now dead and can restart the level.
  • NG - You have one more chance to carry on, and must die again.

When you get up after taking your second chance, wait a moment, then roll left into the nearest hole in the ground. If you roll too soon, you will not take damage when you land and will require one more hit from the Ura, which is slower. You will land right next to the two Ura, who will kill you quickly once you get up. Press your Stop key when you get up so that they don't waste time moving to you.

Why It Works

Typically, loading the Bastion after a level causes the game to save your progress. However, due to the Ura Invasion being an atypical return to the Bastion, the game does not save after Burstone Quarry. As a result, if you were to simply quit back to the menu and resume the game from there, the game would load you as the game existed before the Quarry, meaning you would have to do it over again to get back to the Invasion .

However, the game saves any time you die and restart a level, so once you restart the Invasion, you are safe to quit to the Main Menu. When you resume, the game will always load a normal Bastion, so it does so with your newly saved data, including the Shard(s) from the Quarry.
