Glitches and Shortcuts

Bikini Bottom

Spongebob's Pineapple

  • In the attic, there is an alternate method to collect Patrick's sock. Useful in 100%.
    • You can jump on the doorway to hit the button that activates the platforms.
    • You can then use one of the signs to jump up to the structure with the Bubble Bash button.
    • From there, you can land on one of the platforms and continue to collect the sock.

Bikini Bottom

  • There is an alternate method for obtaining the On Top of the Pineapple golden spatula. Useful in both any% and 100%.
    • If you aim for where the nose of Squidward's Tiki connects to the tiki on the right, you can continue jumping up the nose until you hang off of the eyebrows.
    • From there, you can jump to the balloons in between Squidward's Tiki and Spongebob's Pineapple to reach the spatula.
  • One of the most important tricks is used to keep Hans from grabbing you when you fall down pits. Useful in both any% and 100%.
    • Go out of bounds just to the left of the Jellyfish Fields taxi stop.
    • Hans will pull you to the right, during which time the prompt to enter Jellyfish Fields is activated. Press X/A before you respawn.
    • Go out of bounds in the same area. Hans will then pull you into the trigger to enter Jellyfish Fields.
    • It is now possible to fall down pits without Hans pulling you out of them. This is useful to collect early spatulas or take shortcuts.


Jellyfish Fields

Jellyfish Rock

  • To collect the Cowa-Bungee! golden spatula early, disabling Hans is required. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Move towards the waterfall where the spatula is.
    • Jump down to collect Patrick's sock.
    • From here, you can double jump and Bubble Spin to reach the golden spatula.
  • There is a way to get the sock normally obtained using the Freezie Fruit as Spongebob. You have to be near the floating tikis near the bouncing tree. Useful in 100%.
    • Destroy some of the tikis, leaving about two or three wooden ones.
    • Jump on top of them and jump to the bouncy tree.
    • Immediately hold the direction towards the sock and double jump so that you make it to the sock. From here you can either sink in the goo or warp out.
    • You can then warp to the Cowa-Bungee! spatula and skip paying the first clam to open the gate (although in 100%, you still need to pay the clam later).
  • The first time you encounter the Ham-mer, it can be used for a shortcut up to the top of Jellyfish Rock. Useful in any%.
    • Lure the Ham-mer up one of the rocks near the wall where the teleport box is.
    • You can now jump off of the Ham-mer to open the teleport box and reach an invisible checkpoint.
    • Die in the nearby goo. You will respawn next to the teleport box above where you originally were.
  • An alternate method to reach the top of the level involves leaping over a gap to the jellyfish structure with Patrick's sock on it. Useful in 100%.
    • Head towards the rock on the level with the first Ham-mer.
    • When you get as close as you can, you can double jump and land on the edge of the rock.
    • Continue jumping until you reach the top and can collect the sock.
    • You can then use the bouncy tree to go to the beginning of this section of the level.

Jellyfish Caves

  • To skip the cut scene before the Duplicatotrons, jump towards the trigger off of the cliff and activate it while falling into the goo. It will be skipped because you will respawn. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • At the first section with the Duplicatotrons, there is a jump you can take to skip having to press the buttons. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Go to the Duplicatotron on the left side of the level. Destroy it.
    • Stand near the edge closest to the goo, right next to the Duplicatotron.
    • It takes some timing, but you can jump just before the Duplicatotron explodes and be launched forward by the blast.
    • You can then double jump and land on the platform next to Patrick.
  • There is a way to go out of bounds in this level and skip a large portion of the cave section. Useful in any%.
    • Right next to the bus stop, there is a sign and a Hover Tiki in the distance.
    • Jump on the sign and then to the Hover Tiki.
    • From here you can double jump out of bounds and run around the rock face to reach the cave.
    • To return in-bounds, run past the spikes on your left and find the line of five Thunder Tikis.
    • From here, it is possible to jump up the wall to grab a ledge and pull up to the slide just before the Freezie Fruit introduction.

Jellyfish Lake

  • There is a small shortcut on the way to Drain the Lake. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Climb up the largest rock near the goo.
    • From here, jump to the nearest fountain.
    • From here, you can jump to the island and proceed to destroy the fountains and collect the spatula.
  • There is a shortcut to reach a higher part of the level using some floating tikis as Spongebob. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump up the three Hover Tikis to the left of the first bus stop.
    • Up here, you can jump across the sinking platforms to the upper right and reach the island.
    • Don't hit the Thunder Tiki here. Instead, position yourself to the right of the island.
    • When the floating tikis are just in front of you, Bubble Bash so that you land on top of the tikis.
    • You can then jump to the right and land on the higher level.
  • Immediately after this trick, there is a gap you can cross to collect one of Patrick's socks. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • This is straightforward. Just stand directly across from the sock and double jump and spin to reach the platform on the other side.

Spork Mountain

  • Once you defeat Robo-Patrick and get the Cruise Bubble attack, you can use it to defeat King Jellyfish easily. Useful in any% and 100%.


Downtown Bikini Bottom

Downtown Streets

  • The tikis near the statue are the best ones to use to farm for shiny objects. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Touch the Thunder Tiki with the Shh Tikis surrounding it.
    • From here, run as directly as possible to the rock next to the tikis on the far left.
    • Jump up the rock to the streetlamp and hit the Thunder Tiki on top of the column.
    • You should achieve a Super-Ultra-Mega-Monster combo.
    • Next, Bubble Bash to touch the Thunder Tikis to the right of the first column.
    • Do the same for the next column, only afterwards run to the last column and jump up the rock before hitting the Thunder Tiki here.
  • There is a slightly better method for farming after collecting the Bubble Bowl and Cruise Bubble attacks, done primarily to collect shiny objects for Mr. Krabs. Useful in 100%.
    • If getting the first Super-Ultra-Mega-Monster combo was too difficult, you can now climb up to the first column, touch the Thunder Tiki, then drop down and Bubble Bowl the Thunder Tiki in the middle.
    • Next, touch the Thunder Tiki to the immediate right using the Bubble Bash and then Cruise Bubble the tikis to the right of that.
    • After that, Cruise Bubble the last column of tikis.
  • You can jump over the fence near the first steering wheel. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Collect the first steering wheel without destroying the Wooden Tikis.
    • Jump off the closest tiki to the awning with the second steering wheel to hang off of the awning and pull yourself up.
    • From here, jump towards the fence while hugging the wall. You should land on the edge and be able to jump again to make it over the fence.
  • More fence-jumping can be done at the fence near the G-love and the third steering wheel. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Get hit by the G-love near the streetlamp.
    • Once that's done, jump on top of the G-love and then to the lamp before jumping over the fence.
  • From here, it is possible to leap to the left over the large gap and land on the ledge to the left. In any% you must do this twice. In 100% you only need to do it once.
  • The sock that is over the gap, normally obtained by Sandy, can be collected as Spongebob. Useful in 100%.
    • For practice, climb up to the Stone Tikis and jump carefully to the top of the building without touching the Thunder Tiki. Once you get good at this move, you can touch the Thunder Tiki, but you only have one shot to make the jump.
    • Double jump and spin from the edge towards the dark blue part of the structure on the other side. You should hang from it so you can collect the sock.
  • Sandy can get up to the building with the cannon on it, thereby skipping the entire tutorial for her. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • You can get Sandy by opening the Sea Needle and switching there.
    • Go to the mound of gravel next to the building.
    • From here, you can jump from the top of the mound onto the fencepost to the right and then to the building with the cannon.
    • In any%, you jump off the cannon to reach the spatula. In 100%, you use it to reach the nearest hook first to collect the sock over to the right.

Downtown Rooftops

  • There is a way to reach the Swingin' Sandy spatula as Spongebob. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • At the beginning of the level, backtrack and switch to Spongebob.
    • Activate the trampoline.
    • After bouncing on the trampoline, wait a moment and double jump while moving forward.
    • Spin for distance, and then you should land on top of the invisible wall and be able to jump again to reach the spatula.
    • Theoretically, you could warp to the spatula to skip some of the rooftops, but you need to go across normally because there is a steering wheel on the way.
  • In the area with the Tar-Tar and some small robots, you can use the Tar-tar to reach the platform with the steering wheel on it. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • Immediately after that, jump to the sock. There is a jump off the slide you can take to reach the next steering wheel. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • To reach the slide, use the fencing to jump to the bottom of the pipe and then onto the slide.
    • Jump off to the right of the slide and glide over to the moving platforms to collect the steering wheel.
  • From here, you can go back to the building to the bottom of the slide and jump off the fence to reach the hook just after the building. Useful in any% and 100%.

Lighthouse

  • To get Patrick's sock early, jump onto the wheel on the door to the top of the door to the ledge above. Jump to reach the sock.


Goo Lagoon

Goo Lagoon Beach

  • To reach the sock on top of the lighthouse tower on the island, there is a way to skip most of the towers. Useful in 100%.
    • Next to the tower on the left of the level, there are some tents.
    • You can jump up these tents to reach the top of the tower.
    • From here, you can use the Throw Fruit to complete the last leg of the platforming and reach the sock.
  • One of the most useful out of bounds shortcuts must be done by disabling Hans first. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Near this tower, jump towards the out of bounds area to the left of the goo.
    • Since you disabled Hans, you won't be pulled back to the in-bounds part of the level.
    • From here, you can actually run underneath the goo. You do this to reach the Over the Moat spatula that is waiting beneath the goo.
    • You have to move the camera so you can see where you're running. Make sure you stay on the sandy part of the floor, because it is possible to fall down a pit out of the level completely.
    • It shouldn't be too difficult to maneuver to the large sand castle and around it to reach the spatula.
    • You can then warp to the spatula to reach the area just before paying the clam.
  • From here, make your way to the sand castle. At the gate before the castle, there is a way to reach the sock without climbing the tikis. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Go to the blue umbrella near the gate.
    • Hit the umbrella and jump to the side nearest the camera.
    • Jump off at the right time and you'll jump high enough to reach the top of the gate and collect the sock.
  • There is another jumping trick at the sand castle entrance. Useful in any%.
    • Use the tikis to reach the wood above the entrance.
    • At the highest point of the wood, it is possible to jump up to the ledge above and skip the entire climb up the castle.
    • This isn't done in 100% because of the sock that requires the Freezie Fruit to reach. This is because you have to raise the goo level.
  • From the top of the castle, go to the left to the Duplicatotron. There is a jump here to reach the top of the castle with the sock on it. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump up the barrels near the wall and continue to jump until you can reach the wooden platform.
    • From here, it's an easy jump to the trampoline to bounce up and reach the sock.
  • Come back with the Cruise Bubble and go near the teleport box so that you can hit the Ham-mer on the crates with the Cruise Bubble. This skips turning all of the lights on the towers. Useful in any% and 100%.

Goo Lagoon Sea Caves

  • At the very beginning, you can reach the Hover Tiki with the blue shiny object by double jumping and use the tikis to cross the first section. This must be done to reach the sock near the goo before it rises up. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • Immediately after this, it is possible to jump from the top of the tower to the ledge with the next sock (where the Monsoon is). Useful in any% and 100%.
  • Just after the part with the rolling ball of spikes, there is a jump you can do to skip the rest of the level. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • You can jump on the stalagmites near the wall.
    • From here, there is a platform above you that you can reach by jumping from the stalagmite.
    • Then you have to jump off this platform to the stalagmites near the end of the level. From here you can reach the dock.

Goo Lagoon Pier

  • There is a way to defeat the Ham-mer in the tent while avoiding the long cut scene that plays afterward. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Go onto the bench nearest the tent while luring the G-love over.
    • Once the G-love is right next to the guardrail, stun it.
    • Jump outside the guardrail on the pier and pick up the G-love.
    • Run around the tent by circling the post until you can target the tent from behind it.
    • Move to the left so that you fall, then turn and throw the G-love so that you hit the Ham-mer.
    • The cut scene should be skipped because you will respawn.
  • Near the Whack-a-Tiki game, there is a platform with a streetlamp, from which you can jump to one of the supports of the pier. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump on top of the streetlamp.
    • From here, you can double jump and spin to reach the wooden plank on the large post.
    • Jump up and to the right to a higher part of the structure.
    • From here, you can double jump over to the platform by hanging on it.
  • Another useful trick is to climb up to the Tower Bungee spatula without paying the clam. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump off the small guardrail to the fortune-teller's tent.
    • From here, it is possible to jump up the line of flags to reach the tower. Make sure you don't accidentally pay the clam, or the shortcut is useless.
    • Carefully jump up the flags until you reach the life preservers second from the bottom.
    • From here, jump to the top life preserver.
    • From the very top of this life preserver, make one jump away from the tower.
    • Immediately when you are no longer under the platform, turn around and jump again. You should hang off the platform and pull yourself up.
  • From the slide, there is a way to reach the Slip and Slide Under the Pier spatula. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Slide until you reach the Thunder Tikis sitting atop the Hover Tikis. Hit them for shiny objects.
    • Immediately afterward, jump towards the large area of the pier in the distance.
    • Go underneath it and jump again to reach the spatula.
    • From here, you can warp to the same spatula to skip to the bumper boats.


Rock Bottom

Downtown Rock Bottom

  • There is a small shortcut near the Duplicatotron with the small robots. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump towards the house on the left of the Duplicatotron.
    • From here, you can jump onto the track and skip opening the gate.
  • Using a technique called Spongeball Storage, there is a way to get the Swingalong Spatula spatula using Spongebob. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • To store the Spongeball, jump into it. You'll know it works if you are still in the act of jumping when the Spongeball disappears.
    • To keep the storage, you must not be moving when you land, and you must jump immediately after you land.
    • Jump up to where the artwork is and land on the rock to the left of the trampoline.
    • From here, let the Spongeball activate and roll over to the trampoline to bounce on it.
    • Roll off the ledge north of you onto the rock below and use the rock to bounce forward.
    • Change out of the Spongeball. You should have "stored" the trampoline jump. You can use this boosted jump to reach the platform with the spatula on it.
  • From here, warp to the spatula. You'll teleport to one of the rooves as Sandy. There is a way for her to reach the Get to the Museum spatula. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • First, glide over to the rock with the sock on it.
    • From here, glide to the building with the four spires on it. Climb to the top of the upper-left spire.
    • You can now glide to the platform with the spatula on it.
  • In any%, you would warp immediately to Swingalong Spatula, whereas in 100% you would clear the museum first. From here, you can reach the slide you're supposed to get to after the Trench of Advanced Darkness. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Glide over to the platform beneath the Swingalong Spatula one (the one with the green shiny object on it).
    • It is possible to glide over to the slide from here. You have just enough time to make it.
    • From here you would backtrack over to the start of the slide and switch to Spongebob for the Slip Sliding Away spatula.
  • While sliding down for the spatula, just after the right corner you can jump down to the sock on the platform below. From here you can move down the path and reach the spatula at the end of it. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • If you warp back to Slip Sliding Away, you can backtrack to the Trench of Advanced Darkness to get the Across the Trench of Darkness spatula. Useful in any% and 100%.

Rock Bottom Museum

  • Doing this level as Sandy is recommended for her superior jumping skills. It is easier to collect the socks with her. Useful in 100%.
  • There is a way to collect almost everything in the museum without turning off any of the lasers. Useful in 100%.
    • Start by running almost off the edge and talking to Barnacle Boy to get the sock below without being hurt by the lasers. Keep jumping and talking to Barnacle Boy to keep yourself from getting hurt.
    • Next, climb onto the archway behind you and glide to the nearest electricity shooter on the left.
    • From here jump onto the platform with the Thunder Tikis. Climb up as normal.
    • Now you want to glide to the swinging tire that passes through the laser wall. Jump off the railing and glide towards it. Hang on it so that you're pulling yourself up while passing through the lasers. You'll take damage but will make it to the other side.
    • Grab the sock up here and then glide out to the nearest tire swing. From here you can glide to the one at the end of the level that passes through the laser just barely.
    • Get past this laser, and you have access to the last sock, a piece of Priceless Artwork, and the spatula in here.
  • On one of the mid-level platforms, there is a Chuck low enough to the floor to jump off of to reach a sock. Useful in 100%.

Trench of Advanced Darkness

  • Once you get Across the Trench of Darkness, you can warp to close to the beginning of the level. From here it is possible to get How in Tarnation Do You Get There? Useful in any% and 100%.
    • As Sandy, backtrack from the bus stop to a group of rocks against the wall.
    • From the topmost rock, it is possible to glide over to the spatula.
  • From here, you can glide over to the platform near Plankton and the lasers. Useful in 100%.


Mermalair

Mermalair Entrance

  • After the Arf, there is a small shortcut you can take to reach the top of the area. On the second ledge, it is possible to leap towards the top and grab the ledge. Useful in any% and 100%.

Mermalair Main Chamber

  • There is a way to reach Prawn early. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • At the slide near The Spinning Towers of Power, slide into the corner so that you get stuck in the sliding position.
    • You'll build up enough speed to make a huge jump.
    • Jump onto the edge of the slide and then off and to the right to reach the trigger for the Villain Containment Area. Make sure to hit the button to enter.
    • After defeating Prawn, you can go back to the Main Chamber and collect the Top of the Computer Area spatula.

Mermalair Security Tunnel

  • Right at the beginning, there is a big shortcut you can take. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump onto the upper-left corner of the teleport box.
    • From here, you can jump onto the edge of the archway and jump from here to the stalagmites.
    • Climb the stalagmites until you reach the second archway and make a big jump over to the platform near the electricity-shooting probes.
  • You can now use the probes to make it to the top of the level. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump onto the rightmost probe when it is approaching the middle probe. You will take damage but should stay on top of it if you don't hit the antenna.
    • Now jump onto the middle probe and leap off of that to the ledge above.
  • There is a way to bypass paying the clam to reach the sock in this room. Useful in 100%.
    • Approach the Thunder Tiki below the conveyor belt.
    • Stand on top of it and Bubble Bash before it goes off.
    • You should take damage and then be able to jump up to the conveyor belt above.


Sand Mountain

Ski Lodge

  • If you climb on the missile in the ground, you can reach the railing of the ledge near the button to activate the hooks. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • From here, you can double back on the first hook and glide directly to the spatula. Useful in any% and 100%.
  • Disabling Hans allows you to get the Extreme Bungee spatula without using the bungee. Useful in any% and 100%.


Kelp Forest

Kelp Forest

  • If you go to the platform and the second set of bouncy leaves, it is possible to climb the wall and backtrack to the Kelp Vines. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Bounce off the second leaf as high as you can and double jump and spin. You should land on a part of the wall.
    • From here, you'll have to keep jumping and hugging the wall as you move towards the entrance.
    • You'll eventually jump high enough to reach the edge of the wall so you can run on it. Be careful not to fall off on either side, but especially not the left side, as there's no way to get back without warping.
    • There is an invisible wall going around to the other side, where you can access the Kelp Vines and collect the Kelp Vine Slide spatula.

Kelp Vines

  • Now that you're on the bottom, it's possible to teleport up to the top of the slide, even though you haven't actually been up there. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • You can now activate Mermaid Man's timer and double jump towards the slide to start the timer but then double back with the Bubble Spin.
    • Take the teleport box down to the bottom and move up to the trigger to end the timer. Teleport back for the spatula.


Flying Dutchman's Graveyard

Graveyard Lake

  • Once you get the A Path Through the Goo spatula, double back towards the Duplicatotron. There is a shortcut here to reach the Top of the Entrance Area. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • There are large rocks jutting out of the goo near the Duplicatotron. You can use these to reach the ship just before the spatula.

Graveyard of Ships

  • With Hans disabled, it is possible to go out of bounds and collect the Shipwreck Bungee spatula. Useful in any% and 100%.

Dutchman's Ship

  • On the starboard side of the Dutchman's Ship there is a lantern. You can jump from here to the floating platforms above and in any% skip boarding the robot ship. Useful in any% and 100%.


Spongebob's Dream

Spongebob's Dream

  • To collect Super Bounce without paying the clam near Sandy's Dream, do the following. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • Jump off the slide towards the second box up. You should land on the edge and be able to jump up.
    • Jump up and take damage before bouncing on the trampoline. You can then reach the spatula.
  • You can avoid paying the clam at Mr. Krabs' Dream as well. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • When you reach the box near the big gap, it is possible to double jump and spin from the edge to land on the next box out.

Mr. Krabs' Dream

  • It is possible to use the Cruise Bubble to destroy the Duplicatotrons without activating the platforms. Useful in any% and 100%.


Chum Bucket

Spongebot Steelpants

  • It is possible to activate the trigger to end the boss fight and collect the spatula early. Useful in any% and 100%.
    • After hitting Spongebot twice and hitting Robot Plankton, Spongebot will start attacking the platforms with a karate chop.
    • You can use a boosted jump from the platform to reach the trigger point to end the boss fight.
