Useful tips from mwelsh

  • After talking to Dr. Brown in the medical bay, when you get the orange key card, quit to the main menu and reload the game. This is a few secs faster then going back down the ladders (you avoid some dialog with Lauren). There might be a few other places where quitting the game and reloading it saves some time, but I haven't found them yet. I tried at the long cutscene where the guards turn into zombies, but it didn't skip the cutscene.
  • You can skip a few of the dialogs (particularly the RGB clone guy tutorials) by shot-jumping over them.

When you kill the Slime Worm boss, you want him to be on the left side of the screen, so that the shotgun drops closer to the exit. This goes for most bosses, it's better to be close to them when you kill them so you can get the item drop quickly. I'm bad at this! In the mech section, when you have to jump upward, you can damage boost higher by jumping into the Helperb0ts. Generally, I use the radial gun. The rail gun is helpful in a few key parts later on, such as in the room with the spinning green laser enemies. I grinded the hell out of the dash boots area, got them first try! I'm still curious how much time they actually save. P.S., if you want to back up your save file for practicing a section, it's in C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Rex Rocket. After you kill Teleport-Bot, it's better to go *backwards*. I totally forgot for a minute in my run and then screwed it up, but this avoids the very slow laser room and the room with 15 red Helperb0ts. Those guys two-shot you with such low health, so that room eats up a lot of time. And you end up getting a free health pickup with this route. Unfortunately, when going backwards, there's this red Helperb0t right at a level entrance that insta-hits you back to the previous room. I have to figure out how to get past him consistently. You can use the teleporter to avoid death if you screw up. In the later Engine rooms, you should be placing a beacon on every safe platform. In the tall laser room before Crusher-Bot, it's faster to take an intentional death after hitting the bottom blue switch. You'll respawn at the top right next to the yellow switch that you have to hit. You can jump over the rocket launcher to avoid the item-get cutscene. It's useless anyway with such a low ammo count. For Lauren, use the I-frames on the teleporter and mash shoot as hard as you can!
