When playing as Grimlock or Bruticus, you can cancel any weapon swing by bringing up your shield for any amount of time. This is most useful for cancelling the finishing animation for a combo, or for cancelling the latter swings of it entirely, to immediately start swinging again with a new combo. On Bruticus's stages it is also useful so that you can immediately start moving forward again after you destroy an obstacle such as a bridge. This saves around 1-2 seconds for each time you encounter an obstacle. | When playing as Grimlock or Bruticus, you can cancel any weapon swing by bringing up your shield for any amount of time. If you briefly sprint cancel a tail swipe (the third hit of the dino's 1-2-3 combo) at just the right moment, and continue to spam the attack button, you can immediately perform another tail swipe. You can then sprint cancel that tail swipe as well, and so on. The perfect moment to cancel the tail swipe is still hazy, but if we can perfect this technique it will be '''very''' useful as the tail swipe kills most insecticons with one hit. This seems to work if the sprint cancel is very brief and if you do it when the tail is nearing the end of its arc. More detailed information on this is needed. | If you briefly sprint cancel a tail swipe (the third hit of the dino's 1-2-3 combo) at just the right moment, and continue to spam the attack button, you can immediately perform another tail swipe. Techniques
Shield cancelling
When playing as Grimlock or Bruticus, you can cancel any weapon swing by bringing up your shield for any amount of time. This is most useful for cancelling the finishing animation for a combo, or for cancelling the latter swings of it entirely, to immediately start swinging again with a new combo. On Bruticus's stages it is also useful so that you can immediately start moving forward again after you destroy an obstacle such as a bridge. This saves around 1-2 seconds for each time you encounter an obstacle.
Sprint cancelling
When Grimlock transforms into his dino form, a similar technique can be used by pressing the sprint key briefly rather than the shield key.
Infinite tail swipe
If you briefly sprint cancel a tail swipe (the third hit of the dino's 1-2-3 combo) at just the right moment, and continue to spam the attack button, you can immediately perform another tail swipe. You can then sprint cancel that tail swipe as well, and so on. The perfect moment to cancel the tail swipe is still hazy, but if we can perfect this technique it will be very useful as the tail swipe kills most insecticons with one hit. This seems to work if the sprint cancel is very brief and if you do it when the tail is nearing the end of its arc. More detailed information on this is needed.
