Skipping Text
Alternating between any of the cancel and confirm buttons allows you to skip text very quickly. However, when you are interacting with objects keep in mind which version you are playing. The English versions have 2 Cancel buttons, Square and Circle, so be careful if you need to Confirm. And vice versa with the Japanese versions 2 Confirm buttons, X and Circle. Mashing too much could end up having you make the wrong choice. The only way to do it right is to practice. You'll eventually get a feel for the text. All of it. :3
You don't need to worry about this when talking to people because Cancel doesn't work with dialogue choices.
Buffering the Cursor
When you need to move the cursor at the end of a dialogue pressing the direction required will move it as soon as it appears. But because the game waits about a second before you can actually confirm it, it's pretty useless most of the time. Pressing Left or Right also moves the cursor Up or Down, respectively.
Battle Results
When the Battle Results show up you need to press Confirm at least once to make it proceed to the spoils. From there you can mash Cancel to drop everything or Confirm to take it all. Taking or using individual items costs time, so make sure you know what you need to do to minimize any waste.
Auto Attaching Items
If you have a slot available in your armour changing ammunition will attach the one swapped out automatically, allowing you to reload it later in the fight if you need to. This is only done during the UANMC fight in preparation for Eve and the Super Chaser fight. This is actually a safety measure from the programmers so you don't get caught with your pants down.
