Glitches

General

10 dynamite charges in inventory

Getting more than 9 dynamite charges

Dynamite charge pickups only respawn when your amount of charges is 0.
However in "Level 3: Train 2" you can collect a lot dynamite charges throughout the level. Then near the end of the level there will be a dynamite throwing enemy which will spawn a dynamite charge each time you kill him. When you collect that charge and die after that this enemy will respawn. This way you can collect more dynamite until you run out of lifes.
The onliest effect of having more than 9 dynamite charges is that the number will overlap a small part of the Dollar symbol in your inventory. That indicates that you weren't meant to get a two digits amount of dynamite.


Spawn Glitch

In most of the levels there is a short intro sequence before you gain control. If you spam JUMP after the loading screen you are able to jump just before loosing control in the sequence.
In Level 3 there is no sequence, instead you spawn at a very high point when spamming JUMP and holding RIGHT.

Level 1 Boss: Abilene Boss

When you are too close to a log and don't punch it back you will be hit by it.
However you will also be hit by it when you just wait too long before punching it back.
If that happens the "Logs in a row" counter will be reset to 0.


Level 3: Train 2

Dollar Rain Glitch

When you defeat the sub boss in Level 3 there will be a Dollar rain for a short while. When you die after defeating the boss and before the rain has finished you can run from the last checkpoint back to the boss and watch the rain from the side. You can not proceed earlier than usually though.

Another glitch that is related to this is the giant dynamite glitch.
When you watch the dollar rain from the side jump onto the barrel on the left side of the wagon.
Then place a dynamite charge on it, there will be a huge dynamite sprite for a short moment.

Soft Lock after 2nd boss

You can lock the game after the final boss in Level 3. To do so you need a few dynamite charges in your inventory.
After defeating the boss you will loose control, but you can still place dynamite on the ground. If you do it in the right moment you can cancel the celebration dance and thus prevent the game from continuing. You will then be locked on the train.


Level 6: Indian Desert

Die inside whirlwind

There is a quite cool glitch in Level 6.
This glitch was done at the first whirlwind on the left side, it is possible that it works at other locations in the level too.

The idea of the glitch is to jump into a whirlwind while it is at the bottom of a hole.
If done with the right timing the whirlwind can not lift you up before you touch the death trigger.
You will see that the trick worked when you fly out of the hole despite being dead.

When you respawn the game thinks you are still in a whirlwind, there is no way to exit this state. You will then fly upwards infinitely, there will be only a black background after a short while.

Other Tricks

General

Hit enemies before they appear

Some enemies in the game will be hidden and appear under certain circumstances.
You can hit those enemies before they appear by shooting at the position where they would appear.
This works for the following enemies:

  • Level 1: Guy in the window which must be hit by reflected shot
  • Level 3: Hidden enemies in wagons

Shoot through walls

You can shoot through many walls, for example the walls of the wagons in Level 3. If there's an enemy on screen and behind such a wall you can kill him by shooting through the wall.


Level 4: Pueblos

Level 8: Waterfalls

Skip the bear pursuit

When you touch the bar you instantly die. You are meant to run away from the bear over the platforms to the left.
You can also fall into one of the holes on the left to escape him.

However additionally you can jump to the right side of the door right after triggering the bear and watch him run away from behind. This way you can turn the tables and make it look like you are pursuing him.

Stand on the Exit Door

You can jump onto the exit door from the platform above.
To reach that platform use the door after shooting down the crate.
Jump down the platform to the right, then turn left and hold UP in air. If done right you will land on the doors.
You cannot place dynamite there and you can not trigger the level end early unfortunately.

Other knowledge

Comic with the same name

There is a comic with the same name like the game, however the story is far away from the game's story. The Daltons escape in both versions and Lucky Luke follows and catches them. Other than that there is not really anything that is similar.
