Glitches?

  • You can apparently get Munio's gear early by defeating an enemy in a certain battle in Ononhaar and picking up the chest he drops. This takes a long time and a lot of luck to get the opportunity. In addition, your enemies have to be a sufficiently high level for this to occur, something like level 22, which you will be very unlikely to have achieved at any point in a speedrun.
  • You can permanently recruit units that normally can only be temporarily recruited (this ONLY works for units that are exclusively temporary) with an interesting glitch. You must have less money than required to recruit them, which can be done by purchasing a bunch of stuff. Just select them like you are recruiting them and after choosing not to recruit them you will have them in your school, permanently and for free. There seems to be only one temporary recruit in Nordagh for Ursala's story: the other yeti unlocked by completing Trial of the Elders. While it would be really awesome to have him, the glitch doesn't work on him as his dialog is different. The glitch does, as far as I know, work on all other temporary recruits. This can be used to acquire dervishes and amazons in Imperia. It is unknown at the moment if these units would actually be useful in a speedrun.
  • Undead Legionnaires and Undead Summoners have the innate ability Fleshless Target, which greatly reduces damage caused by ranged attacks. Occasionally though, this doesn't work for whatever reason. This means Archers and Gungnirs/Peltasts can sometimes do heavy damage against them, making them not completely useless in battles against the undead.
  • Not really a glitch, but a good exploit nonetheless if true. I've read that you can simply quit the battle after starting the Caltha Championship, and continue the game as if you had won. I need to check this to confirm.
  • Story-essential heroes (Urlan, Ursula, Valens, and Eiji) can die in the final battles of the game after Caltha without any consequences beyond not being able to use them anymore for that battle. This is probably not true for gladiators you have recruited, but it still needs to be confirmed.
