Cancelling swings
When playing as Grimlock or Bruticus, you can cancel any weapon swing animation by bringing up your shield (very useful) or by dashing (somewhat useful). The swing after a cancel will be the first swing of a new combo. This can be used to cut a combo short and immediately start another, or to start moving immediately after a swing connects. When Grimlock is in dino form, obviously you don't have a shield to cancel with, but initiating a sprint (however brief) will perform the cancel just as well.
Tail swipe spam
Grimlock's dino form sprint attack is a nearly 360° tail swipe with heavy damage, good range, and a fairly short delay before connecting. Its main disadvantage is its long recovery time. However the recovery animation can be sprint cancelled (see cancelling swings above), making it a pretty overpowered ability in dino form. And since you have to be sprinting to perform it anyway, sprint cancelling it repeatedly is very easy to do and probably the most powerful tool in dino form's arsenal.
To spam tail swipe:
- Hold ↑ (for this whole process)
- Hold sprint
- Tap attack to start a tail swipe
- Release sprint
- When you want to cancel the attack, repeat from 2
Skips
- In Mission 2 (Defend the Ark), when you enter the Autobot outpost, after you help Ratchet with Silverbolt you enter a room with Cliffjumper in it. If you exit this room as quickly as possible by cutting the corner and heading towards Jazz, you can avoid triggering the cutscene where you help Cliffjumper lift some debris. This is fairly easy to perform.
