:1 - As the contents block is hard coded right aligned, some other content was needed on this page, if for no other reason then for aesthetics.
:2 - There was some talk about the acronyms used on the Techniques page and as some acronyms are arbitrary in the sense as they have no actual meaning any more, it may appear confusing to random visitors.
