The scan line doubler

Say a PS1 game has a resolution of 320 x 240. When you record a PS1 game, for example, the resolution is 720 x 240. If you preview that, the vertical resolution is 240 pixels, while the horizontal resolution will be doubled to 640, with an additional 80 black pixels. The issue is that you have a game that is stretched horizontally but not vertically. The point of the scan line doubler is to double the vertical resolution in this situation so when you preview it, the game is stretched 2x in both directions instead of just one. This, however, does not change the recorded file. It will still be 720 x 240, just the preview that Amarec gives is 720 x 480. I don't use the aspect ratio option in Amarec, so I don't know how that will affect this situation.
